As if it couldn’t get anymore complicated (yeah right)

Reading Marshall Boswell’s book Understanding David Foster Wallace, the chapter about IJ, taking notes for SIP.

Oh good gravy. I know that DFW is a total philosophy/math head and that he has dialogues (of ideas) in his books with the philosophers that he’d studied, but these explications make the already-understandable themes in IJ so much richer.

Boswell is really good at taking complicated stuff like Lacan’s psychology and explaining it so the reader (me) can understand it well enough in a couple pages.

It’s really hard not to take notes on everything I’m reading. Not everything will go into my paper or be helpful but you know, as Luke would say, this is homework for my life even if I don’t use it for class.

So there.
